Aluminum or PVC? What to choose?
These are not competitors, but solutions for different tasks. The choice depends on your project.
Choose aluminum if:
- You need panoramic glazing over 2.5m high
- Minimalist design with narrow frames is important
- The project is a villa, chalet or premium property
- Maximum durability is needed (50+ years)
- Budget is not the main constraint
Price: from €320-520/m²
Choose PVC if:
- Maximum thermal insulation at low cost is important
- Standard window sizes (up to 2.5m high)
- Apartment or standard house
- Wide color range of lamination needed
- Limited budget (PVC is 2-3 times cheaper)
Price: from €120-200/m²

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Aluminum Windows
What is the difference between a “warm” and a “cold” aluminium profile?
The key difference is the thermal break — a polyamide insert that separates the inner and outer halves of the profile. “Cold” aluminium has no thermal break and is used for unheated verandas, gazebos and interior partitions. “Warm” profiles (with RPT thermal break) cut the cold bridge from outside and are the right choice for heated rooms, apartments and houses.
Is it true that aluminium windows are colder than PVC?
Largely true, but the gap is small. Aluminium conducts heat far better than plastic, so even a modern thermal-break (RPT) profile has a slightly higher U-value than an equivalent PVC frame — it insulates a little less for the same glazing. With multi-chamber thermal breaks and energy-saving glass units the difference is marginal and you won’t feel it day to day, but if the absolute best insulation per euro is your priority, PVC still keeps a small edge. Choose aluminium for large spans, slim frames and durability; choose PVC for the lowest heating bill on a standard opening.
Why do aluminium windows cost more than PVC?
The price buys durability and capability. Aluminium frames can last 50 years or more — longer than PVC — and resist corrosion and UV without fading. Their rigidity also lets us build huge panoramic windows with narrow frames that let in more light. You are paying for the structure and longevity, not just the material.
Can the windows be coloured or made to look like wood?
Yes — the design options are vast. We use powder coating in any of 200+ RAL shades, and sublimation decoration that convincingly mimics natural wood grain (oak, walnut, pine) while keeping the strength of the metal.
Is aluminium suitable for large panoramic glazing?
Aluminium is the best material for large-format glazing. The static strength of the metal lets us make sashes up to 3 metres tall and wall-width openings without extra transoms, creating a “glass wall” effect that visually expands the space.
Are aluminium windows hard to look after?
Quite the opposite — they are among the lowest-maintenance windows. Aluminium is antistatic so it does not attract dust, it will not yellow in the sun, and it never needs repainting. Washing with mild soapy water twice a year and lubricating the fittings keeps them looking new for decades.
