Schüco LivIng 82 is the technological pinnacle of the German brand's lineup. The system is designed specifically for passive houses and energy-efficient construction. The main innovation is the use of a unique EPDM gasket that maintains elasticity for over 15 years and, unlike alternatives, is welded at the corners, creating an absolutely airtight seal.

Thanks to the Twin System concept, the window can be made with two (AS) or three (MD) sealing levels without changing the profile geometry. This is an uncompromising solution for those who want maximum warmth and quietness.

System structural parameters:

  • Installation depth: 82 mm (standard for passive house construction).
  • Profile construction: 7 chambers in frame and sash — maximum thermal insulation in class.
  • Sealing: Twin System — choice between 2 (AS) or 3 (MD) sealing levels. Material — exclusive weldable EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene monomer).
  • Design: Classic sash geometry with clean lines. Visible frame width of only 120 mm for maximum light transmission.
  • Reinforcement: Closed steel reinforcement in frame ensures stability even for heavy sashes with triple glazing.

Glazing options:

  • Maximum infill thickness: up to 52 mm.
  • Glass unit types: Double-chamber (3 panes) with warm spacer bar, acoustic laminated glass.
  • Glass unit installation depth: Increased to 20 mm, minimizing edge effect and protecting against condensation.

Certified characteristics:

  • Thermal insulation (Uf): 0.96 W/m²K (MD version) — certified by ift Rosenheim Institute.
  • Sound insulation (Rw): up to 47 dB.
  • Burglar resistance: up to RC2 class.
  • Air permeability: Class 4 (highest).
  • Water tightness: Class 9A.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about Schüco LivIng 82

What is the difference between LivIng 82 AS and 82 MD?

AS (Anschlagdichtung) is a system with two sealing levels. MD (Mitteldichtung) has three (an additional level in the middle of the frame). MD is warmer (Uf 0.96 vs 1.0) and provides better sound insulation, while also protecting hardware from moisture.

Is this window suitable for private homes?

This is an ideal option for private homes, especially cottages with autonomous heating. The high thermal insulation of the 7-chamber profile allows significant savings on gas or electricity bills in winter.

Is the gasket here really special?

Yes, Schüco developed the world's first weldable EPDM gasket. It doesn't lose elasticity in frost (down to -40°C) and lasts longer than standard TPE gaskets, which often harden after 5-7 years.

What glass unit is best to install?

The system is designed for glass units up to 52 mm. We recommend a double-chamber unit 44-48 mm with multifunctional glass and warm spacer bar to unlock the full thermal efficiency potential of the profile.

What color are the gaskets?

In white Schüco LivIng windows, the gasket is light grey (almost invisible), making the window appear visually larger. In laminated (colored) windows, black gaskets are used for a strict style.

How secure are these windows?

Thanks to the 82 mm depth and 13 mm offset hardware groove, reinforced strike plates can be used. The window easily achieves RC2 burglar resistance certification (protection against burglar tools).
